Mission and Purpose
In 1995, William Louey established the William S.D. Louey Educational Foundation in honour of his grandfather. The aim was straightforward: to support capable students from modest backgrounds in pursuing overseas education at a time when such opportunities were rare.
Beyond financial support, William meets scholars personally and remains in touch throughout their journeys. Over time, many have built businesses, advanced technology and shaped their own industries. Some now support students of their own, allowing opportunity to move naturally across generations.

The foundation's primary mission is to offer scholarships to exceptional students from underprivileged backgrounds, enabling them to pursue world-class education opportunities abroad.
The William SD Louey Educational Foundation offers financial assistance and provides mentorship and guidance throughout the scholars' academic and professional development, ensuring success. This holistic approach empowers recipients to achieve excellence and contribute meaningfully to their communities and society at large.

In 2015, a group of scholars from the William SD Louey Educational Foundation established the Pay It Forward Scholarship to support Chinese students gaining access to higher education.
Philanthropy and Mentorship
William Louey is a Hong Kong businessman and fourth-generation figurehead of Kowloon Motor Bus, one of the city’s oldest public transport companies. He is a Non-Executive Director of Transport International, a founding member of JNW Properties and Chairman of Hong Kong Construction (Technology). Alongside his business responsibilities, he has long been committed to philanthropy in education and sustained mentorship.
In 1995, he established the William S.D. Louey Educational Foundation in honour of his grandfather. The Foundation has since supported more than 60 scholars with over HKD 60 million in funding. William meets candidates personally each year and maintains long-term relationships with many scholars as their careers develop, reflecting his belief that mentorship is a lifelong commitment.
Beyond formal philanthropy, William has established himself as a content creator and key opinion leader, sharing practical wisdom drawn from decades of leadership and lived experience. Through his digital platforms, speaking engagements and thought leadership contributions, including opinion pieces published by Forbes Business Council and Entrepreneur, he addresses health, longevity and self improvement. Video productions such as Surreal Hong Kong, Growing Young with William Louey and Reaching Your Peak form part of this broader body of work.
Grounded in openness and curiosity, his focus remains on societal contribution, knowledge-sharing and building genuine connections, rather than achieving personal gain. His wider aim is to pass knowledge to younger generations and empower others to build authentic, meaningful and fulfilling lives.

He is the creator and host of two original digital series: Growing Young with William Louey, which explores longevity, wellness, and healthy living, and Reaching Your Peak, a podcast focused on leadership, personal growth, and achieving one’s fullest potential.
Philanthropy and Mentorship
William Louey Lai Kuen is a Hong Kong businessman and fourth-generation heir of the Kowloon Motor Bus Company (1933) Limited (KMB), the city’s oldest and largest public transportation company. Inspired by the principle of “pay it forward,” William has dedicated much of his life to philanthropy and education.
In 1995, he established the William S.D. Louey Educational Foundation, in honor of his late grandfather, to provide academically gifted students from disadvantaged backgrounds with access to world-class education abroad. To date, the Foundation has supported 60 scholars with over HKD $60 million in funding, while William continues to offer mentorship and personal guidance to each student.
